Tools For Resistance

A DIY-inspired graphic toolkit offering hand-crafted letterforms, textures, and images to empower anyone to create impactful protest art, amplifying diverse voices in resistance and expression.

Exploring DIY techniques—such as monoprinting, spray painting, letterpress, collecting and hand drawn lettering—as a means of material-led discovery. These tactile processes allow for the development of a library of expressive marks, textures, and visual language that form part of my evolving design toolkit. This phase of making prioritises intuition, imperfection, and the unexpected as integral to visual storytelling.

Tools for Resistance is an online platform I designed to democratize protest art, inspired by the DIY ethos of the Riot Grrrl movement. Built on the belief that everyone should have the tools to speak out and take up space, the site offers an accessible, playful space for creativity, self-expression, and empowerment.

The interface invites users to experiment—assembling slogans and visuals in seconds—resulting in bold, impactful posters with
a raw, cut-and-paste energy. By combining handcrafted lettering, varied textures, and imperfect marks, the platform deliberately feels playful and unpolished. This reinforces the spirit of DIY protest, where urgency and expression matter more than perfection.
I continue to update the site with new letterforms and assets, expanding its possibilities for creative activism. Looking ahead, I aim to refine the drag-and-drop system, improve usability, and grow the library of type sets, textures, and downloadable tools—supporting broader collective resistance through visual language.
